How I Proposed...
For a few weeks early in 2006 I had my Fiancee convinced that I had not even started looking for a ring. We had looked at rings and I knew what she liked and I knew what she didn't like. One Saturday while my Fiancee was at work I ventured out to the jewellers to have a look. After some tweaking I had what I hoped was the perfect ring. Valentine's Day was a week and a half away the day I picked up the ring. I squirreled it away for a week.
The Saturday before Valentine's Day, while my Fiancee was at work I visited her Mom to discuss the pending engagement with her and to receive her blessing. Then I raced home to work at tidying the house up. I went to work on dinner, creating a salad, some homemade bread and baked salmon. While I was working away in the kitchen my Fiancee came home. She was very inquisitive as to why I was going to such great lengths to put on a spread. I explained that Valentine's day was on a weekday and I would not be able to put on a spread like that on Valentine's day since we both work. She accepted this and I finished making dinner.
After dinner we were chatting a bit and I had the ring box in my pocket. I asked her if she was going to go wedding dress shopping with her friend who was soon to be wed. She said that she was. I asked if she was going to start looking for a dress for herself. She said it was too soon since we weren't engaged yet. I asked her if she was sure she didn't want to look for a dress for herself and again she said no. At that point I went down on one knee and pulled out the ring box and said, "Well I think you should start looking for a dress, will you marry me?" It took a few seconds to sink in and she said YES.
On February 24, 2007 she will confirm that answer when we become a married couple.
